Memories.

I keep changing my mind with this one. It began as ‘Old, abandoned well’, but that did not have a kigo (seasonal word or phrase), so I changed it to ‘cold’, but that did not feel specific enough, so I changed it to ‘berries’. Now that does not seem specific enough, so I’m going back to ‘cold’!

Cold, abandoned well –

A splash comes echoing back,

As the penny drops.

 Berries hide the well –

A splash comes echoing back,

As the penny drops.

About Basho Barr

Inspired by the great Japanese Haiku master, Matsuo Basho, I try to capture a daily moment in a small but perfectly formed Haiku.
